If you have invested in a good quality (and stylish) pair of shoes and take care of them, then you will be enjoying them for years. Men’s dress shoes are reasonably expensive and the best way to maintain and care for your shoes is by avoiding any damage in the first place.
Old clothes, shoes, dress etc., should be recycled. You can have a garage sale for these items then donate the proceeds to your chuch, or you can just give them to the needy. Recycling is an important aspect of waste management.
As soon as you buy your leather shoes, use leather protector to prevent water and dirt from penetrating the leather. Applying a leather protector also protects the shoe from mud, snow and salt stains.
Keep them in shape
Storing leather shoes at home using a shoe tree will help retain the shape of your shoes. Using a Cedar shoe tree will additionally help in absorbing the moisture from the leather and keeping them odour free.
Dirt easily gets embedded into leather. Brush off dirt and debris with a soft cloth or brush. This way, it becomes easier to buff and polish the shoes.
Leather has a tendency to dry out until it eventually cracks and falls apart if it is not taken care of. Use a leather conditioner at least twice a year to keep your shoes soft and supple.
The best way is to first apply the shoe polish/cream to your leather shoes and boots with a brush or soft cloth. Let the polish dry. Now simply buff to a brilliant shine using a natural bristle brush.
